Meeko is an older adult cat. Owner said he was 15 but our vet thinks he's closer to 10 years old. Meeko is a shy boy and is grossly overweight – so much so that his owner was thinking of having him put to sleep because he can't get around. He is on a slow weight loss program with a target of losing 1 pound per month. More than that can be dangerous to his health as cats are prone to fatty liver disease with to rapid of a weight loss. His new owner must continue with measured portions of food and increase his exercise using interactive play such as feathers, balls, laser pointer etc. to get him engaged in life again. Meeko has been neutered, vaccinated and tested negative for FIV/leukemia. Meeko can coexist with other cats but would prefer a dog-free zone or a very calm, laid back dog may be OK. Excellent vet references are a must! Apply at www.companimals.org. Adoption $50.
