Update- Bogey is a 5 year old male who came to us from a high kill shelter in Arizona. Foster mama and dad did a DNA test and he’s 100% Good Boy (aka GSD).
Bo’s a big, friendly boy who loves everybody he meets. He’s vocal and excited in new places but listens like a good boy and has done very well in his foster home. He’s never had an accident in the house and even waits until 8 am to wake you up to go out. The foster family crates him when leaving the house, and he goes in willingly for a treat. He’s loose in the house day and night and has never gotten in any trouble, probably because he mostly follows the people around and helps with whatever they are doing.
Bo knows sit, down, stay, back, leave it and kitchen (which means stay out of the kitchen 😊) He loves to catch anything you throw and is learning “drop it”, though he’d prefer to play tug! He also likes to play hide and seek with puzzle balls full of kibble. He is still learning to walk politely on the leash, but isn’t aggressive with other dogs out for a walk and focuses on sniffing everything.
When it’s time to chill out he likes to lay his head in your lap and have his head scratched. He’ll happily lay on the couch with you or in his bed. He barks at a knock on the door or the doorbell but is friendly when introduced.
He has severe dry eye which fortunately isn’t painful and doesn’t interfere with his vision. It’s not something that can be fixed, but the treatment is straightforward and effective. He gets eye drops twice a day and doesn’t complain too much if they are followed by treats.
Bo is available for foster or adoption and will win your heart if he gets the chance!
Welcome 5 yr old Bogey to VSR.
Bogey came from a high kill shelter in AZ. He so far has been friendly to all he meets and quite the vocal boy. He loves to ”talk” to you similar to how a husky would and it’s absolutely adorable. All who have met him have loved him right away.
Seems totally non reactive to dogs but we have not fully tested him yet. He traveled with 2 others without issue though, side by side in kennels. He also was bopping them through the kennels very sweetly. We’ve only had him a day but he hasn’t had an accident yet and has done well with being in a run.
He loves couch cuddles and nom nomming a toy while laying next to you. We’re guessing he’d make a great movie buddy. He arrived with an ear infection so we are treating that and he’s so very tolerant of his eyes being cleaned and medicated.
He was born without tear ducts. No biggy really. Dry eye is manageable with cleanings and twice daily meds, all of which are inexpensive and some are over the counter.
We will update as we get to know more about him.
