Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Tee!
Tee is a 5 year old small breed mix. She weights 4.8 pounds and is currently in foster with other dogs. Tee has a congenital deformity in her front legs that limits their full use, but she doesn’t let that stop her scoot around in the house or bound through the grass in the backyard chasing her foster brothers. Her front legs are fully formed, but her paws are turned around at the wrist, so she uses her front elbows to get around. Heres what her foster has to say:
-We’ve been calling her Tee (short for T-Rex)
-she is not shaky or yippie like some toy breeds can be; she has barked maybe 3 times since we brought her home. Does not spook easily.
-Calm during bath and nail trim; allows all four paws to be handled
-Has not yet had an accident in the house; pees and poops within minutes of being taken outside around 7am and 7pm (she also gets a midday break outside but hasn’t relieved herself at that time yet). Solid stools every time so far.
-Loves her crate and loves to burrow in blankets.
-Sleeps solidly and quietly through the night in her crate (8+ hours each night)
-Does not get around easily on slick/hard floors; our house is 80% hardwood/tile floor and she always makes a beeline for the area rugs and is most active/mobile while on them. Would probably do best in a fully carpeted home.
-She has already learned how to use the foam doggie stairs we have for our senior boy. They can be purchased on Amazon for approx. $30 but we have a spare set we can send with her to get her started in her new home when time comes.
-Would probably do best as an only dog due to size/mobility issues, but would also do well with other dogs closer to her size. Our dogs are 17 lbs each (and athletic) and they bowl her over when they play (but she does her best to hold her own and loves to try and play with them). Has not been tested with cats.
-A 3-D printed front wheel cart is being made for her as we speak (will go with her when adopted).
$250 adoption donation includes spay, rabies, dhpp, heartworm / 4dx tested, fecal tested and flea tick treated/dewormed
Interested in adopting?
1. Please complete our online form at heartsforpawsrescue.com/adoption-application
2. We will respond in 1-3 days for a call!
3. If it sounds like a potential match for you and the dog of interest, we will promptly set up a meet and greet at the foster home
Please note we are a foster-based rescue meaning our dogs are in individual foster homes throughout sac and the bay. For this reason we may only be able to schedule meets for one dog at a time (or litter). The average timeline between app submission and a meet and greet is 3-5 days. Please only submit an application for a specific dog if you are ready to adopt that animal within a week's time.
