My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Catherine, our CSI kitten momma. Catherine's kittens have all been adopted but she is still waiting for her forever home. She is a beautiful long hair Torti, with the full on Torti-tude to boot. She’s definitely one of our more dominant cats and really wants your attention...all of your attention!

She’s has been spayed, she’s negative for feline leukemia/FIV, she’s fully vaccinated, fecal negative and treated for fleas and worms. Her DOB is estimated to be 5/2021.

Please fill out an adoption application for Catherine!

Additional adoption info

Our adoption fees vary between adults and kittens. Our kittens come with an age appropriate program (provided through certificate) for our veterinarian only.

We make sure all our cats receive a health screening, tested for feline aids and feline leukemia when appropriate ages, spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated for rabies (1yr), distemper and leukemia.

We also worm and flea treat all of our cats, again all as age appropriate. We also treat any cat/kitten that comes to our sanctuary for any illnesses present, or that develop while in our care.

We require an appointment for adopting, as well as a verifiable veterinarian reference, which we require prior to scheduling an actual adoption visit.

We contact your veterinarian reference to insure our cats/kittens are being placed in responsible, loving homes.

Additionally, we require a cat carrier be brought to the adoption appointment for transport home. No laundry baskets, boxes, lap holding, is acceptable. No exceptions.

We have a private shelter address other than our mailing address which is featured on this site. Many of our cats are in foster care, so appropriate appointments need to be made with proper foster families. Our cats are featured on our website as well as PetFinder.com and our Facebook page.

Go meet their pets

Call us at 419-289-3658 to schedule an appointment. Because our cats are not used to cages, they do not travel to adoption events.

Caged cats become scared when people poke at them through the bars. How would you like that? So we want you to come and see them in their natural environment.

We try to accommodate any time frame within reason.

Visit our website at https://www.catsanctuaryashland.org/ or
PetFinder at https://www.petfinder.com/member/us/oh/ashland/the-cat-house-feline-sanctuary-inc-oh591/ to see some of our cats today!

We also have a Facebook page where we keep everyone up to date on new cats coming into our facility; as well, https://www.facebook.com/TheCatHouseFelineSanctuary/ .

More about this rescue

There are people in this world who love all different kinds of animals for different reasons. We love them all and then we are passionate about others. We are passionate about cats. There are next to no shelters in Ashland Ohio that take in cats and the population is out of control.

So instead of sitting around and saying "someone should do something, we decided to do something" and built a sanctuary in 2005.

We originally housed 60 homeless/abandoned cats then expanded in 2008 to house 90. At one point we had 110, added another apartment and got the numbers back down to 90.

100% of your donation goes directly to the care of our cats, we have NO paid staff. As the director, I supplement the money we need to run the shelter and do not receive a salary to do so.

It is critical for us to receive outside financial support. We are a 501(c)(3) charity so any donations may be tax deductible.

Make a difference in a cat's life, donate today! We are a dedicated group of volunteers; myself included, who consider this our God given talent and we serve gladly.
