Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Violet von Paisley is a stunning 3-4 month old Shepherd mix puppy with a beautiful personality that matches her striking appearance! In spite of her name, she is NO ‘shrinking Violet’…. she’s very playful with large dogs, and also loves being in the company of her foster human ‘pack’ (no small dogs or kitties, please). This confident pup loves to play hard with her older foster fur brother, who has trouble keeping up with her quick juke and jive maneuvers in the yard, and especially enjoys tug-of-war with a rope toy. After a fun romp outside, Violet quietly settles down for a respite in her crate until it’s time for round 2! She has proven to be quite a well-behaved little lady around the foster grandkids, gently taking treats from them – without being ‘mouthy’ or ‘jumpy’. The kids love running their fingers through her soft, fluffy fur, giving her belly rubs and gentle scratches behind her ears. Best of all, she’s so helpful around the house -- she will definitely find that expensive shoe you left lying around, will lick the dinner dishes clean, and will scare those pesky squirrels off your property! This smart little pup quickly learned where to ‘do her business’ outside, even mastering the dog door the first day in her foster home. She sleeps quietly in her crate all night with her four-legged pack nearby. We think that she could fit in well in just about any home, but would especially thrive in the company of a large male dog and a yard to enjoy. Don’t miss this opportunity to make Violet part of your pack!
Violet von Paisley is in a foster home, offsite, and is NOT at our rescue location in Los Angeles.

Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.
