My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Kane is a beautiful girl currently in foster in NJ! Kane is snuggly, sweet and well behaved. Kane would do best as the only pet and with kids 12+ and she loves to play and run in the yard so we are hoping for a fenced yard for her.

Kane's foster says:

I would like to tell you a little bit about Kane our foster pup. We have had Kane for a year and a half, this November it will be two years. We came to foster Kane through my niece. Kane needed a foster immediately or she would’ve been taken to the local ASPCA. To help my niece, we had her come here hoping for an adoption soon. When you are a foster you truly don’t know how long you’ll have them and why certain dogs get adopted quickly while others don’t . Needless to say having Kane this long we have fallen in love with her.But at this time in our lives we cannot permanently keep her, I will speak to that situation later.

First I will speak to what an incredible dog she is! She is fully trained and the easiest dog to take care of. Never an accident in the house, doesn’t chew on anything but her own toys and knows her own toys which are kept in a basket.  Probably one of the most endearing qualities is every time we come home through the door she grabs her toy and brings it to us...wagging her tail and wiggling her butt. She enjoys long walks, frankly any kind of walk …she lets you know where her harness is and that she’s looking to go out. We have a fenced in yard where we just let her lay out in the sun until she wants to come in, so there are some days we can’t get those walks in but she gets out and gets lots of fresh air.

She eagerly eats two meals a day which we do add some cooked chicken to her dry kibble, sweet potatoes, or bananas which she really enjoys. She is very good in the house and loves lounging in her bed or on the couch during the day and can be left alone in the house for quite a few hours.. I would say 6 to 7 hours at a clip. At the end of the day when she’s ready to go to bed she loves to be covered up, snuggled in her blankets in her bed. She not a early raiser …she pretty much stays in bed until she hears the kibble hit the bowl, or the beep of the microwave heating up her sweet potatoes.

She is very aware of noises outside the house. Will bark when she hears them but doesn’t continuously bark.. just enough for a warning and then she settles down, I would consider her to be a great watchdog.

I’m writing all this down because I need to find a fabulous home for her. I’ve never fostered before, she is my first, and I can’t say enough about the process if every dog is like Kane I could be a foster forever. But I think what I’m realizing is Kane has been overlooked because of her age but seriously the huge benefit is somebody else has put in all the work to train her and all you do as is love her.

Now no person or dog comes without a few flaws. Unfortunately now I have to point out a few. For whatever reason when she came to us she was anxious about  hardwood floors, I’m not sure the reason but it has been solved with a few carpet runners here and there for her to get around our home. The advantage to this is we don’t have carpets down the hallway into bedrooms so it does keep her out of those rooms.

Unfortunately the next one is she has to be the only dog in a home with no young children. This is the reason we cannot keep her for we have a grandson who is seven. I know with these flaws may seem like an impossible adoption arrangement but it’s not …we just need to find the right person.

I have thought of all possibilities and homes this dog belongs in....

She is perfect for an older single man who wants a wonderful companion, a dog that’s still active but not the work of a new puppy. Single young adults male or female in college or working from home and have always wanted a dog …a dog that needs no training.

As her fosters we wish nothing but the best possible situation for this wonderful dog. I’m sure people think about the fact that they are tied down with a dog, but we love her so much and any adoptee can certainly call on us to help with vacations, days they may be away from the house and need somebody to watch her for free. The last place we want her to go is to the SPCA.

I am writing this adoption letter in hopes that we find a beautiful home for her, like the one she’s enjoyed here. I’m sure there are questions I haven’t answered but feel free to come met her…visit, see what we see in this special dog. As I write this I know this will be a very hard goodbye but I hope she stays close and we can still be a part of her life.

Kane's fixed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines. Her adoption fee is $300.

More about this rescue

Wag On Inn Rescue, A NJ recognized 501(C)3 organization, located in Freehold, NJ, is a small group of dedicated volunteers, trying to rehome dogs and cats. We have a variety of animals looking for their forever home. The animals are worked with individually to be socialized with other animals and with people. Some of the dogs are obedience trained and housebroken. Special care is also taken in working with animals on basic house manners. We have two types of ways we help the animals. One is our rescue program, where we pull animals from shelters and they stay with us until adopted, we also have a "referal program" where we help owners of pets try to find them new homes. with this program, the pets stay with their owners until a new home is found, and adopted from the owner.
