Athena was found abandoned and brought to MCHS when no one claimed her. She had obviously been out in the cold without shelter during the winter of 2022. Athena is a love bug who likes to be pet and loves to sit in laps. She is probably about 2 years old at the time of her arrival on 4/16/22 here at MCHS. During her first vet visit, we discovered that Athena was pregnant! She gave birth to 5 babies on 5/28/22 and was a great momma! She has tested neg for feline leukemia and positive for FIV, is now spayed and is current on shots. Her adoption fee is $50 or 2 cats for $75. Because of the FIV, she should be the only cat at her home or live with others that have FIV. A pet carrier is required at the time of adoption and you must be 21 to adopt from MCHS. To meet Athena or any of our other cats, go to mchs.rescuegroups.org and complete and submit our online application. We will review and then get in touch to set up a meeting time. For dogs, there is an application form that needs to be completed a few days ahead of time, before we are able to release an animal. We review applications to make sure there is a compatible fit between adoptive home and the characteristics of the animal. Adoption fees for dogs range from $95 to $150

Regular animal viewing hours are at the Shelter on Tuesdays from 4:30PM to 6PM, and Sundays from 2PM to 4PM. Other days/times can be arranaged by appointment.

The Mower County Humane Society is run entirely volunteers. The group strives to take in homeless and stray dogs and cats and place them into responsible, lifelong homes.
