My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Tengu is a sweet, goofy XL puppy. He is in foster with other dogs but is dog-selective and has an “alpha” personality. He prefers to be where his humans are - chilling out watching tv, helping you cook, following you to the bathroom, playing fetch in the backyard - and would love a home with hiking, camping, and family adventures. He loves following you around like a shadow, but can also be overprotective of his humans, typical of guardian breeds. He can be reactive on leash around strangers, so an experienced handler ready to train is a must.

Our thrift store is open Tuesday-Sunday from 10am - 5pm and Mondays 10am-2pm. We often have adoptable pets visiting our store, but our pets live in foster homes, so please contact us in advance with questions about a specific pet.

More about this rescue

The Pet Rescue Thrift Store was founded in 2015 to raise funds to help homeless animals in the Inland Empire. In 2018, we changed our name to Foster Army Animal Rescue, and moved our thrift store into the historic Old Marcy Library in Riverside. The thrift store is a showcase of unique new-to-you items as well as adorable adoptables on certain days. The thrift store is the main source of funds used to pay for veterinary care and supplies to foster volunteers for the sick, injured, underage, and overlooked animals FAAR rescues. As a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, FAAR is dedicated to helping these misfits, who are most at risk of being put to sleep. Please note: Our animals live in loving foster homes, not at the thrift store - please call in advance if you are interested in meeting a pet. We do not take in strays or unwanted pets; we exclusively pull animals from our local shelters. Animals abandoned on the property will be picked up by animal control, and criminal charges for animal abandonment will be pursued.
