If you need protection from apex predators for your livestock, Zeus is your guy! Cougars, wolves and bears, beware!
Zeus is a purebred Kangal Dog. Both of his parents are working Livestock Guardians. He is a mature livestock guardian dog in search of his own farm or ranch. He is a rare find: a young adult livestock guardian with no issues.
Zeus was born in the poultry yard with chickens, ducks and turkeys. The litter was moved to goats at 5 weeks old. Zeus is currently guarding Nigerian dwarf goats on a 5-acre pasture, where our primary predators are Bald eagles, cougars, and coyotes.
Zeus was purchased as a 12-week puppy by a young woman with acreage and goats, who did an excellent job starting him as a Livestock Guardian. She had to move back East and could not take her animals with her. Zeus was returned to me as his breeder. I always take back my dogs.
Zeus is a steady, confident guardian. He was top puppy in his litter and will expect to be top dog on his new farm. Zeus is intact.
Like all Kangal Dogs, Zeus is excellent with children, generally likes people, but was not raised with a lot of contact, so doesn't expect regular interaction or affection (but he does appreciate it!). He has never been indoors. He walks on a leash, is house-trained, comes when called, sits for his dinner, is willing to be handled and examined, including teeth and ears. He loads up into a vehicle. He is a gentleman at the veternarian.
Anatolian Shepherds and Kangal Dogs are not food motivated but LOVE belly rubs.
Zeus will only be going to a home with livestock and acreage.
