My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet one of the most gentle, sweetest souls we’ve ever met...Duke!

Duke actually found himself dumped and fending for himself in Rock Hill, SC. Being scared and confused, he avoided people and no one seemed to care. Luckily for Duke, his guardian angel spotted him and made it her goal to befriend him, catch him and get him to safety. Lauren befriended him by regularly showing up where he was hanging out to feed him. Over time she earned his trust and was able to catch him. What a selfless act of dedication and love by Lauren!

He found his way to us and has been doing great, learning that he is safe and loved and can actually trust all humans He is a very smart, funny, goofy boy and truly has the sweetest disposition.

Duke is a 1 year old, lab/hound mix, about 65 pounds, fully vetted, crate trained, housebroken, walks great on a leash and loves other dogs! He is gentle and loving and would do great in a family with older kids. He is still a bit shy but comes around quickly.

We are requiring a fenced yard for him as he loves to run and play. Another dog also required in the home as he is learning so much from his dog buddies.

If interested in possibly meeting him, please go to the below link to fill out an application. We just like to know a little about you prior to a meet and greet.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

. First, the potential adopter will fill out the Adoption Application which will then be reviewed, the information on the application will be verified, and references will be checked. Then, if the application is approved, a home inspection will be conducted, which will lead to a Meet and Greet with the potential adopter’s entire family and pets to ensure that the home and family will be a good match for the FFR dog.

If the applicant is approved and the environment is a good fit, the adoption will be finalized with an adoption fee to the rescue and the signing of an Adoption Contract.

More about this rescue

Freedom Farm Rescue’s mission is to rescue, provide sanctuary, rehabilitate and ultimately to find permanent loving homes for abandoned, stray and neglected dogs. We are located in Charlotte, NC.

Most rescued dogs need to re-learn how to be beloved companions and our dedicated volunteers provide that to them through love, training, and therapy.

We closely evaluate the temperament and personality of the dogs and take into consideration the nature of the breed before placing them in their forever homes. This is done to further prevent the abandonment of dogs by closely aligning the dog's personality and needs with an owner's lifestyle.

Our goal is to place animals in loving, responsible, committed permanent homes, following a comprehensive adoption process and educating prospective owners as necessary about the responsibilities and costs of bringing an animal into their homes and lives.

Finally, we strive to work with shelters and other rescue and humane organizations across the country to develop a network of supporters and volunteers in order to create a better world for homeless pets.
