My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Well, let's talk about Chuckie. Isn't he adorable? That long lush coat of black and tan hair. It's therapeutic to brush it and smooth it..... for Chuck and for the person doing it. This gorgeous nugget finds his way to DREAM because his human was working long long hours, and not only that there was overnight traveling involved. Someone would come to the house to let him out, once or twice a day, but mostly he was by himself- isn't that terribly sad? For days on end, no companionship, no exercise, no fresh air and sunshine. But he's with us now, and he's looking forward to the after times.

Chuckie is a typical doxie. He plays with toys, hunts and loves to snuggles. He does get stressed out when along and is comfortable in his crate when his humans are gone.

Chuck is great with other dogs, sleeps under the bed and loves to sit next to you on the sofa. He likes all people and is fine around kids as well. He is a great car rider and will settle in his crate during a ride. Overall he is housetrained but still has some accidents. He must go out every 2-3 hours to maintain a regular schedule. He enjoys walks but not long ones.

Chuckie would do best in a home with a back yard for him to explore and someone who can be home with him most of the day.

If you are interested in adopting Chuckie, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to our online adoption application. Chuckie's adoption fee is $350. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Chuckie will go to his new home microchipped, neutered, heartworm tested, up to date on vaccinations, and with all other medical needs addressed. Almost every dog's veterinary expense is greater than our adoption fees.

DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group. We focus on the metro Atlanta area and can assist throughout the state of Georgia. Since our rescue is entirely run and staffed by volunteers, our ability to travel long distances for adoptions is somewhat limited. We focus on Georgia, but if you are in a neighboring state, we might be able to work something out - we will expect you to do your part. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back.
