My story

Meet Brooklyn!

Hi there, My name is Brooklyn, I’m 6 years old and 20 pounds, and after spending my entire life in a puppy mill, my foster mom said I’ll be loved for just being me. You wouldn’t know from my shaved body that I am Cocker Spaniel but I am! I can’t wait for you to see how beautiful my coat will get.

Foster mom tells me I’m such a good girl all the time. Like when I go potty outside, she says “good girl”. When she says, “come here” and I come to her, she tells me “Good Girl!” I get along well with other dogs that are my size and smaller, I have not met any big dogs yet but I bet I would be fine. I would love it if I had a confident easy going fur sibling to continue to show me how to be a beloved family dog.

I could do fine with respectful children 10 and older but young ones might scare me, so I might not do well living with them and I would be terribly sad if I accidently hurt them. I have discovered that I have a voice and especially like to use it when you come back into the room after being gone for the day. So, apartment life would not be the best for me.

I have found that sleeping in a dog bed is nice but sleeping on the sofa with you is even better. I’m finding that I do like to get my ears, chin, belly and butt scratched once I get comfortable with you. I have a cute way of asking for more pets, I put my paw on you! I have figured out plush toys are fun to pull apart and chew bones are great for my teeth.

Lots of noises and fast movements can set me cowering in fear but I have already come a long way in a short time. The basic household noises are okay with me now. Please just remember I had a sheltered life so your patience and understanding will be very important to me. My new family should have a fenced yard to keep me safe. They will need some patience and understanding, work with me and teach me the big world, including leashes, isn’t so scary.

I sure hope my new family will love me and adore me and want me for who I am. I promise to learn to trust and love them right back! Can you maybe be my new family?

Disclaimer: It is VERY difficult even for a veterinarian to tell the exact age of a dog over two years old. From one vet to another, we can get different age estimates on the same dog and they can vary by several years. We are only making an educated guess based on a few factors like teeth, fur color, and overall body condition, but for dogs who have not been given adequate vet care and food, it can be even more difficult. Every dog is an individual, and we do our very best to age appropriately but make no guarantees as to the age of any dog in our program.

All dogs have an adoption fee of $275 for a single dog or $500 for (bonded) pair, unless otherwise noted. Note: Pairs must be adopted at the same time to get the reduced adoption fee. -Applications with incomplete information will not be processed. - All current dogs in the home must be spayed or neutered, up to date on rabies vaccination, up to date on DHLPP, up to date on Heartworm testing and preventative. - All cats in the home must be spayed or neutered and up to date on a rabies vaccination or wellness exam. - None of our dogs will be adopted to prospective owners who mislead or fail to provide accurate information on the adoption application and/or the adoption contract. Albert's Dog Lounge reserves the right to refuse adoption to anyone. - You must agree that if you are no longer able to keep your rescue dog for whatever reason, the dog will be returned to Albert's Dog Lounge. More about this rescue

Albert's Dog Lounge is a foster-based rescue focused on providing loving homes to seniors, special needs, and hospice dogs. We help dogs in need from overcrowded shelters and also from local families who are no longer able to care for their pets. Albert's Dog Lounge was established in 2017 with the vision to be the stepping stone to a new life for those dogs who are less likely to be rescued, adopted, or at a higher risk for euthanasia.
