***BEHAVIOR TEST***
Dog Test: (Okay with Dogs) James is a super laid back guy and although hasn`t met dogs I believe with proper introduction would be ok in a home with dogs.
Cat Test: (Okay with Cats) James has met other cats here at the shelter and doesn`t seem to mind them.
Kid Test: (Okay with Kids) James would be just fine in a home with kids.
Litter Box Trained:(Uses Litter Box) James keeps a clean kennel.
Energy Level: (Medium) Meet James, a handsome long-haired brown tabby with a curious spirit and a love for adventure! This outgoing DMH boy enjoys exploring every corner of our cat rooms, always on the lookout for something new and interesting. James gets along well with other cats and doesn’t mind sharing his space—as long as there’s plenty of food to go around! He’s got a great appetite and never says no to a tasty treat. With his fluffy coat, friendly nature, and laid-back attitude, James is ready to find a home where he can keep exploring, make some feline friends, and enjoy the good life.

Our shelter is open 7 days a week. (Excluding holidays).
Monday- Friday 8am-5pm
Saturday- Sunday 10am-2pm
We ask that you come visit any time between open and no later than 30 minutes prior to closing. This ensures that staff will have enough time to assist you in meeting one of our great furry friends!

We are a Municipal Animal Shelter for the City of Lee's Summit. We house animals brought in by Lee's Summit Animal Control Officers and Blue Springs Animal Control Officers.
Animals are also brought to us by owners that can no longer keep the animal or by strays that were impounded for running loose.
When an animal comes in as a stray, it is held for 5 days to give the owner a chance to claim it. If the owner does not claim it, on the 6th day it is put up for adoption or foster. During this 5 day holding period, if a potential adopter would like to adopt the animal, they are welcome to sign up on the adoption list. The names on the adoption list are contacted on the 6th day if no owner has made claim.
If there are no names on the adoption list, then the animal will become first come, first served when available for adoption.
