My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

LOOKING FOR FOSTER, FOSTER TO ADOPT, OR DIRECT ADOPTION

Nellie was originally rescued in March 2020 from the Porterville Shelter with her 9 puppies. She was the most amazing mother to her little ones!

Nellie was adopted in the spring of 2020, but now in need of a new home:

She is great with kids and babies!

She lives with cats and may do well with well-matched cats given proper intros, early separation, and management

Nellie LOVES water, swimming and playing fetch

Nellie is house-trained

She would love a home with a big backyard and a flexible or WFH schedule

While she lives with a dog currently, she got in a scuffle with her doggy sibling a few times over the past 2.5 years and the family feels they can no longer be in the home with each other anymore.

While Nellie is, more often than not, good with dogs, we would recommend that she be your one and only. She is not reactive to dogs, but muzzle training is a great tool to provide peace of mind around other dogs

She is timid with new people, but is gentle and bonds strongly with her circle. Nellie is 50 lbs, 4-5 years old, spayed, and vaccinated

Nellie is currently located in CHICO, CA

Interested in adopting?
1. Please complete our online form at heartsforpawsrescue.com/adoption-application
2. We will respond in 1-3 days for a call!
3. If it sounds like a potential match for you and the dog of interest, we will promptly set up a meet and greet at the foster home

Please note we are a foster-based rescue meaning our dogs are in individual foster homes throughout sac and the bay. For this reason we may only be able to schedule meets for one dog at a time (or litter). The average timeline between app submission and a meet and greet is 3-5 days. Please only submit an application for a specific dog if you are ready to adopt that animal within a week's time.
