The initial step is the Application for Adoption. Contact Shadows at the number listed and the Application for Adoption will be forwarded via email. Once the Application for Adoption is completed and returned, Shadows will contact the applicant for a phone interview. If the applicant meets the necessary requirements for companion dog guardianship, the applicant will be invited to meet the dog they are interested in. After the initial meeting, if the applicant decides to move forward with the adoption, a visit to the applicant's home will take place. Only after the home visit will the applicant be formally approved and the Adoption Contract signed. Adoption fees apply to all adoptions. Applicant needs to have a verifiable veterinary history. Shadows' focus is to have the dog and applicant(s) be a great match. All of Shadows dogs are fully vetted. All vaccinations will be current. The dog will be spayed or neutered, heartworm clear and on heartworm medication. All dogs will be microchipped under Shadows. In addition, dogs are house and crate trained. They also receive some basic training.

Shadows is a small rescue that helps dogs become wonderful healthy companion dogs on their way to their forever homes. It started by accident over 30 years ago and has continued to this day. The first dog rescued from the streets was a dog named Shadow, and hence, the rest is history.
