Goldie appreciates balance in life-it`s equal parts fun, easy wandering around her homestead and naps! She loves neighborly walks too. She likes to fit in where the people are, or hang out with another friendly dog resident. Sometimes she may prefer to be alone. Much like us as we age, she`s come to know exactly what she likes, choices! Her true love is having free range between indoors and outdoors and will need at least a small fenced yard to truly feel whole because she loves nature. Now and then her youthful spirit comes out and she does zoomies around her person or a dog resident to encourage play action. But when it`s her turn for the cuddles, it`s `me time`!
She`s very housetrained and sleeps through the night. Goldie has been in a home with older kids and does well. She has shared a home with an older dog friend. She shares her current home with a Himalayan cat. When her people are away, Goldie can manage herself by being separated to her own space or even crated if need be. Goldie appreciates a home without flights of stairs, a few seconds patience for her to rise but know she will bust a move when she gets going.
Can you appreciate the balance this sweet girl desires for her golden years? Meeting Goldie is easy, she`s in foster. Reach out on her ADOPT ME button. Her wellness care while in foster is sponsored by Classic Canines at a Pflugerville clinic and a big bonus - she`s recently had a full dental!

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day! For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites. For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.
Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older
