My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We're not going to sugarcoat things, if Tanzanite had been returned to his colony it would have been a certain death sentence. Between the cars and general cruelty toward community cats in his neighborhood, he hardly stood a chance. We wanted to give him a new lease on life.

He's a little nutty, but that's a typical Russian Blue - not all pistons firing, if ya know what we mean. He is very playful and a bit confused. He wants to be friends, but is still timid with people.   He can't say no to food, so that is the golden ticket and what will lead this boy to become the amazing cat he is destined to be.

Tanzanite would do well in a quiet home that will continue to encourage him to socialize and come out of his shell.

We estimate his birthday to be March 01, 2022. Tanzanite and his family were rescued from the City of Poughkeepsie, NY.

Our required adoption donation is $150 per kitten or $125 per cat (older than 9 months). All our rescues are up to date on shots, microchipped, tested for FIV/FeLV/Heartworm. They are dewormed, treated for parasites and free of fleas. Each is spayed or neutered and given a rabies vaccination.

An application must be completed to be considered to adopt from Stray HELP. You can download it from HERE OR directly ONLINE If your application is approved we conduct a home visit for final approval of adoption. To view more pictures of cats and kittens in our program visit us on FaceBook.

More about this rescue

Our mission is to rescue and care for stray and homeless animals while providing humane education to the community.
We work with members of the community to help cats in need. We conduct trap/neuter/return and place projects and train home and business owners on how to properly care for free roaming cats on their property and in their neighborhoods.
We focus in southern Dutchess County, but help people throughout Dutchess, Putnam and Orange counties by connecting them with local rescues that can work with them, loaning equipment, coordinating spay/neuter clinics and offering guidance.
