My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Freckles (looks like Catahoula/Lab Mix) has the cutest freckled face! She is a sweet girl, once she gets to know you. Freckles likes to run around the dog park but is just as happy having quiet time with her favorite person(s). Freckles has been diagnosed with early renal disease and is on a prescription diet to control it. Prior to adoption, you will be required to have a veterinarian who must consult with our shelter's vet.

Please know that Freckles is also eligible to be a medical foster.

Our current adoption fee is $100 for puppies, kittens, and small dogs and $80 for dogs and cats older than 7 months, unless otherwise noted. Every pet that is available for adoption is current on shots, spayed/neutered, and microchipped. You may submit an application online for pre-approval and to set an appointment or you can visit the shelter Wednesday - Sunday from 11am - 5pm. Please note that the kennels close for pet viewing at 4:30pm.

HSPC's adoption fee is currently reduced from $100 to $75 unless stated otherwise within the pet's description. Every pet that is available for adoption has been spayed/neutered, microchipped, wormed and is up-to-date on vaccinations including heartworm preventative (canines). Adopters are required to schedule a wellness exam with their veterinarian at their cost within 7 days of adoption. We are currently closed to the public and we will only respond to inquiries accompanying an application submitted through warmhearts.org/adopt.

More about this shelter

The mission of the Humane Society of Pulaski County is to rescue, care for and find homes for abandoned, abused, homeless and unwanted animals; to reduce suffering of animals; and to reduce the number of homeless animals through adoption, spay/neuter, and through education.

The Humane Society of Pulaski County provides access to low-cost, healthy, inoculated, sterilized animals to people seeking to adopt animals as pets only. Adopters are screened to see if they can provide the basics of care for the animals, proper housing, and continued veterinary maintenance; and have no history of animal abuse or irresponsible ownership.

The Humane Society is a private no-kill shelter, supported solely by donations, fund-raisers, bequests and grants. We receive no city, county or state funding, nor are we affiliated with any other organization. We have been rescuing animals since 1946, and have been in our present building since 2000.
