My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Olivia!

This beautiful pup was part of a litter that was dumped in a ditch along with a male dog who is thought to be the dad. No mama dog was ever seen, so possibly whoever dumped the puppies and abandoned the male wanted to keep her. We sure hope if they did that they will have her spayed. The good Samaritans who found Olivia and her siblings had them for the last 4 weeks, so that would have made them about 9 weeks old when they were dumped. The adult dog who is presumed to be the dad of the puppies looks like a Border Collie. They had one picture they shared with us (included in the pictures) but dad then escaped and sadly we do not know where he is now. Olivia's siblings all found homes and when she was the only puppy left, her finder asked JoJo's if we would help find her a great home.

Olivia, we are guessing, will be a big girl by the time she is finished growing. At 13 weeks she was 20 lbs and she has really big paws. We really do not know, but a puppy weight estimator said at her age and current weight she is on target to weigh about 80 lbs as an adult dog. She has grown an average of 2 1/2-3 lbs a week in the 4 weeks since she was dumped so that sounds about right.
Her vet record has her listed as a Heeler Mix, but they never saw dad. Maybe she is a Border Collie/Heeler? She is small for a Heeler, but she is speckled like they are. Maybe mom is an Australian Cattledog (red heeler) and Olivia gets her size and lush coat from her dad. We just do not know.

She has a very soft, luxurious coat and a super sweet personality. She loves toys and really loves to be snuggled. She'll be the perfect wintertime snuggler -- she feels like a plush blanket Housebreaking is a work in progress, and she is doing great in a crate overnight.

She is doing great with other puppies and dogs of all sizes in her foster home. We are saying she is good with children and cats, but she has not been tested. We just think because she is so young and does have a calm, sweet demeanor for her age that she should be fine if she grows up with them. Children under 5 are not generally a good idea for a young puppy unless it is with an experienced adopter who knows how to train both the children and the puppy well to avoid anyone being hurt (by little puppy claws and teeth or little grabbing hands.)

If you think you might want to give this sweet pup a home, please email jojosdogrescue@gmail.com and we will send you an application, or visit our website: www.jojosdoghouse.com and download one. Adoption fee is $250, which includes up-to-date vaccinations, parasite treatment, and microchip with lifetime registration.
