Hello! I’m Tim! I’m what’s known as a velcro dog. I want to spend all of my time with humans. My favourite thing is cuddling. I like to follow you around and when you sit down, I belong in your lap.
My second favourite thing is food, especially whatever you’re having. Apparently I’m not supposed to beg (are you sure?), so my fosters have worked with me on this behaviour. I’ll still sit right beside you and stare deeply into your eyes while you eat but I don’t bark or jump to beg anymore.
I like my things so I’ve displayed some resource guarding. I will growl if you come to get whatever it is that I’ve decided is mine BUT I can be convinced to make a trade. Do I want to give you this toy for a treat? Yes I do!
I love to smell things (there may be food) so that is my #1 priority when I’m out on walks. I also like to pull after squirrels (they might have food). When I’m on leash & a big dog passes by, I bark & lunge at them to show them that I’m the boss. I’ve been told this isn’t polite so I’m working on it. You can offer me food to redirect me away from the dog.
I am currently living with another small dog & I don’t mind! When a guest comes over, I will try & shoot out the front door – adventure awaits! I have no recall training so I’ve been told my family will need to make sure that I stay inside or on a leash.
I sleep in my crate at night but I will whine if put there during the day. I really want to be by your side and in your lap.
