My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Updated 12/27/2023:
Jackson is a sweet, silly hound mix. He was born in late June 2022 and has reached his full-grown size at about 75 pounds. We do not know his exact breed mix.

The adoption fee for Jackson is $200. He has been neutered and microchipped. He's receiving monthly flea and heartworm prevention. Jackson did fantastic with crate training as he recovered from his neuter. He's quite smart and followed another dog through the doggie door right away. He's friendly and picks up on things quickly.

Jackson is patiently waiting for a forever family. He was first listed here in November 2022; he's been in the foster program so long that he recently had another annual exam and received his 3-year rabies and distemper/lepto vaccines.

Jackson is a lovable, playful, athletic pup who gets along well with other dogs. He'll need some continued work on leash-walking. (He hasn't had much practice and can be a bit of a bowling ball - but he's certainly willing to learn!) His ideal home would have a large, fenced yard so he can sniff, explore and zoom. (He has not been introduced to young children or cats.)

There's a video of him romping with 3 of his siblings here: https://youtu.be/BoszRFevA7M

(He has one sister, Sioux, who is also still available for adoption.)

If you want more information about Jackson, call or text Jody at 352-316-5155 or email her at SCRWestLevy@gmail.com. Thanks for your interest in adopting - and for your patience as we are an all-volunteer rescue! (We do keep our posts current! Sometimes we have to repost a pup when an adoption falls through. Thanks for understanding.)

More about this rescue

Second Chance Rescue is headquartered in Orange Lake, Florida. We cover a rural area in the Gainesville/Ocala region with a network of volunteers and foster homes. While many of our rescued dogs come from animal shelters, we also get a number of them through "shelter diversion" contacts - where we take in a dog or litter that is likely to end up there without our help. (We do not have a public facility in Orange Lake - but that zip code is fairly central to our network of foster homes.)
