My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Layla is playful, has a good disposition, and lives for chasing balls and chewing sticks. She's fantastic with people from toddlers to adults and shows no signs of aggression or shyness. More often than not, she will approach people and flop over to hopefully receive a belly rub.

We don't know her exact age but she seems to be young, maybe around 2 years old, and has shown capable of learning things (she's gone from not potty trained at all to about 80% in a few months and can use the doggy door). She's only slightly food motivated but will generally come if given a treat. She's not vocal except for when her humans come and go. She will bark for a minute when someone is leaving and give one "woof" for a welcome back greeting.

While away, she is fine roaming the house unsupervised. She doesn't jump on furniture or chew on anything that she knows she shouldn't. She has had a few opportunities to escape but won't run away and is more curious about what you are doing. She is not street smart with cars and we are working on leash training.

Although very healthy now, we believe that Layla had distemper as a puppy. This presents when she gets excited (new people, places, or dogs), she will twirl in circles for a bit. When not excited or lying around the house, she's completely normal except for being a bit clumsy (but still fast to chase a ball). While she does have a disability, she makes the most of it and is generally a very happy dog.

She has been fine with dogs her size and smaller; she may have issues with large dogs, especially if they are high energy. She has been reported to be okay with cats but there aren’t any in her foster home. She seems fine with loud noises and generally doesn't have any anxiety triggers other than she tends to pant and talk during car rides.
She has a great range of energy. She's comfortable sleeping all day while her human is working from home or running around outside.
She's recently been spayed and is ready for a good home that can provide lots of love for a very sweet dog.

We are told she is a “silver Doberman”.
