My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Please contact Teri (terik@tarasdream.org) for more information about this pet.

About T.A.R.A. | Adopt | Volunteer | Donate

Shadow is a sweet cat looking for his forever home after being abandoned by his previous owner. Shadow is a friendly, outgoing 8 year old male. He is shy at first, but once he trusts you he will warm up to you. He enjoys rubbing his chin on his fosters hand for affection.  He will probably do best as an only cat. Shadow is a diabetic kitty.

Shadow is currently with a foster family, and they are doing a great job keeping  his diabetes under control by closely monitoring his diet, blood sugar and insulin levels daily. Shadow will need this daily care to keep him healthy and stable so he can enjoy many more years.

The foster family can give you all the details needed to care for this sweet guy!

Adoption Fee: $75

TARA's adoption fee includes: spay/neuter, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchip, FIV/FeLV Combo test, and deworming. A two-week trial is included as part of the adoption.

Because we do not know the background of many of our cats, we cannot guarantee exact age or breed.

Adoption centers may not have a volunteer present to open the cat enclosures, and we have foster homes located throughout the KC metro area. Please fill out an application if you'd like to meet this cat.

Interested in this pet? Please fill out a non-binding application. Our goal is to find life-long matches between animals and families, and the application provides us with a lot of information to help us help you find that match!

Additional adoption info

The first step to meet or adopt any of our animals is to fill out a no-commitment application online. This is normally followed up with a meeting between your family and the animal, and a home visit. Adoption fees range from $75 to $300. Please visit our website (TarasDream.org) for more information about our adoptable pet including bios, more photos, and each pet's adoption fee. If an animal is not listed on our website, they are no longer available for adoption.

More about this rescue

A non-profit 501C3, all volunteer group dedicated to helping homeless pets in the Greater Kansas City area. Our organization is the result of an alliance between several rescuers in the Kansas City region who share the same goal of ending animal suffering and homelessness.

Although we are foster home based, we also lease several kennels at a local boarding facility. Although this little "shelter" is allowing us to save many more lives, it is an added expense which is why we rely so heavily on generous donations from caring people in the community.

In addition to rescuing pets from difficult situations, we offer courtesy listings in Pet Finder, facilitate low-cost spays and neuterings, work on transfers and transports with existing rescue groups, help individuals and organizations promote, screen and educate potential adopters, fund raise to help pets with special needs, offer guidance and information about animal rescue, organize events, etc.
