My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Introducing Firefly, a stunning 8-year-old feline with an enchanting presence, currently seeking a loving home on Petfinder. Firefly is a vision of beauty with her elegant long black fur, which adds to her magical and majestic aura. Her independent and poised nature makes her a captivating companion.

Despite her regal appearance, Firefly is deeply devoted and forms strong bonds with those she trusts. She is shy at first, taking her time to warm up to new people and environments. However, once she feels comfortable, Firefly's loving and affectionate side shines through, making her a cherished companion.

Firefly shares a special bond with her brother, Sam, and they enjoy spending their days together, often found sleeping and snuggling in cozy corners. Their bond is heartwarming to witness, showcasing their mutual devotion and affection for each other.

This elegant feline thrives in a calm and peaceful environment where she can maintain her independence while also enjoying moments of companionship and love. She appreciates quiet interactions and gentle gestures of affection, showing her appreciation with purrs and nuzzles.

If you're looking for a magical and majestic feline companion who brings grace and beauty to your home, consider adopting Firefly. Her loving nature, combined with her bonded relationship with Sam, will bring joy and warmth to your life, creating lasting memories filled with love and companionship.

Additional adoption info

1) Adoptions are BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. The first step is to email us at AHcatadoption@gmail.com. Be sure to include your full name, age, address, and phone number. We will respond as soon as possible to answer your questions and schedule an appointment to visit our shelter. If you have already submitted an inquiry through Adopt-a-Pet or Petfinder about a particular cat, there is no need to send a separate email.
2) During your appointment, you will complete a questionnaire and work with an adoption coordinator to find the cat that is right for you. This process may involve meeting with numerous cats, or even making more than one visit to Animal House. You and your new cat will live together for a lifetime, so this step is important.
3) Before adoption, we ensure that your cat has been spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated.

More about this shelter

Animal House Cat Rescue and Adoption Center is a private, non-profit, “no-kill” organization dedicated to providing the homeless, abandoned cats and kittens of St. Louis with a better life. We are committed to maintaining an adoption center that provides a safe, healthy and enriching environment, and our goal is a solid and lasting adoption for every cat and kitten in our care.

Animal House opened in 2010 when the City of St. Louis closed its municipal shelter and ended a number of services for stray animals. Not only did the 75 cats residing in their shelter need a place to go, the St. Louis community needed services for abandoned, homeless cats. Animal House was born out of that need. Today we house 200-250 cats and kittens at any given time.

The cats and kittens at Animal House are rescued from the streets of our community and often come from challenging circumstances that include neglect, abandonment, or injury. We have created a safe place where cats in need find shelter, medical and nutritional support, individualized socialization and interaction, enrichment, lots of love, and the opportunity to connect with a loving, lifelong family. We impose no time limit on this process, giving each cat or kitten the time they need. We emphasize matchmaking throughout our adoption process to ensure the best possible match.
