Approximate DOB 07/11/2021

Size - maybe 45 lbs

History- This little girl was picked up by animal control with her puppies (Monica and Ross) running at large. At that time the puppies were about 5 weeks old and just following mom as she looked for food. They then spent about 6 weeks in the shelter with no interest. After 6 weeks the shelter was packed with no open kennels and they were asking for help and sent out some photos of dogs who had been there a long time that could end up on the euthanasia list if one had to be made. We let them know we would take them and picked them up the next morning. Phoebe was extremely grateful and pranced around and showed us just how happy she was to be here.

Temperament- She is one of the sweetest girls ever. So happy and just loves attention. After being with s for a year she has learned that toys are super fun.

Energy Level- High energy - should have another dog to play and run with or a running partner. She seems to do better with males.

Dogs/Cats- She has met the other dogs here and loves to play with Shadow and Ruger the best. She has seen the cats in the house and just ignores them.

Housetrained- She is perfect. Has not had a single accident and is crate trained as well for when I have to leave.

Phoebe is an absolute doll!! Just a perfect, sweet, gentle little girl. However, we have learned she can be difficult to contain. We had them in a run off the back of the house- 6 ft panels and she easily jumped up and pulled herself over. She will need a tall privacy fence to keep her contained - if there is wire she can jump and then pull herself up and over. We have put a hot wire up and she has learned to stay away from the fences here. She is high energy and quite the little defender. A creepy guy was riding a bike past the foster home recently and she decided to chase him off- she doesn't bite but she will chase and bark to let people know she means business. She is very sweet though and happy and introduces to new people easily. She is very gentle with my 3 year old granddaughter and even lets her handle the leash without pulling her down. She has learned here (as come), responds to a whistle if further away to come, and sits on command. She is just an overall easy girl that would be a fantastic addition to any family wanting a sweet, athletic, loving girl.

Adoption fee $150 includes spay, age appropriate vaccinations (4 for puppies), deworming, microchip, rabies, collar and leash, training information, and all the support you need.

Additional adoption info

If you are interested in adopting from us but have questions please feel free to e-mail us at adopt@almosthomenm.org

In order to start the application process you must send us an e-mail request for an application. We will e-mail it to you as soon as possible. Then just fill it out and send it back via e-mail. Once we receive it then we can schedule an appointment for you to come out and meet the animals.

We are not an open to the public facility with specific hours of operation. We are a foster home and therefore require an application submitted before an appointment can be made and directions given out.

If you would like to adopt from out of state then you must be willing to come out to meet and adopt the pet you are interested in.. We do not ship pets nor will we meet someone somewhere.. We want adopters to come out and spend at least an hour with this pet in their environment before adopting just to ensure there is a connection. We would hate for the adoption to not work and be so far away.

More about this rescue

We are a newly formed rescue in Peralta, NM. We are still very small and currently in process of getting our 501c3 tax exempt status. It is mainly just myself, my two daughters and a small group of volunteers. We only take in animals from shelters who are scheduled to be put down. All animals are housed in my home and on my property. We started this rescue due to the simple fact that there are so many wonderful dogs dying everyday at the shelters because there just isn't enough room.We do not discriminate against any breed. Every dog has the potential to be a great family pet, working dog, or therapy dog- just as every dog has the potential to become a "dangerous dog" due to the simple fact that they all (or most anyway) have teeth and can bite when provoked or trained to obey their owners commands.
We do it for the love of the animals and the need to find forever homes for the ones impounded due to no fault of their own.
