My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Calling all retirees! Looking for a best friend to spend your days with? Norris ideal home would be with a retired couple. He is a 9yr old, 65lb gentleman, with a heart of gold! He would love nothing more than to live out his golden years right by your side. Are you a routine kind of person? Then Norris is your guy! He is very routine driven and loves his breakfast at 0-seven-hundred and his leisurely morning walk right after (more sniffing than walking). He'll curl up right next to you on the couch for afternoon belly rubs and naps. He could snuggle all day (although he wouldn't turn down an afternoon walk) until dinner time and his evening stroll.

Norris ideal home would be with a retired couple that loves to walk. He LOVES walking and walks well on the leash most of the time. He is a strong guy, and sometimes pulls when he sees other dogs. He always checks in with you no matter what he is doing to make sure he is doing it right. He is an easy going guy that just wants to be loved. As an older guy he does not have much tolerance for kids, so no kids is a must. He would like a calm doggie sibling to show him the ropes and provide him comfort when his people are not home. He does not show interest in playing with other dogs, he just wants affection from his hoomans. He does great with his 55lb and 24lb dog siblings.

His story is sad, he was found abandoned in a house and had been there for quite some time without food. He came to the shelter 25lbs underweight. Because of being abandoned in a house, he does have some separation anxiety, which is totally understandable! He does ok if he has a calm doggy sibling to be left at home with, but he is most happy to be with his humans. He needs a patient, loving person, that understands he has separation anxiety and is willing to help him build his confidence slowly. He loves and needs to have a set daily routine (this is good for his anxiety). Don't let these quirks lead you to overlooking this sweet boy, he truly is an amazing guy that just wants to be loved!

Norris is in a foster home. If you would like to meet this animal, go to www.souldog.org to fill out an adoption application. When submitting your adoption application make sure to submit a good clear picture of your living room, kitchen, and yard. If you rent, you must provide proof animals are allowed. We will contact references. Once the application is reviewed our adoptions coordinator will send your information to the foster to set up a meet and greet.

We ask that all members of the household come for a meet and greet to ensure there are no personality clashes. If you have other dogs in the home and are meeting a dog you must bring them for the meet and greet. Filling out an adoption application does not mean you will be adopting the animal. Doing a meet and greet with one of our animals does not guarantee you are adopting the animal. We will select the family we feel is the best choice for that animal after screening and meeting applicants.

More about this rescue

Soul Dog is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit animal rescue organization founded with the mission to spay/neuter and protect animals. We are currently a small group of committed volunteers making a difference in the life of one animal at a time. As an all volunteer administration, all donations made to Soul Dog go directly to improving the health of the pets that share our lives.

Soul Dog is proactive in animal welfare advancing the need for spaying and neutering our pets to reduce overpopulation. We travel to rural communities on Native American reservations, where spaying and neutering will only happen if it is nearly free or very convenient. Soul Dog works with volunteer veterinarians to provide the spaying and neutering service at no cost to the public. Donations are used to defray the costs associated with medications, supplies, and the operating cost for clinics.
