My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sweet Potater is a Domestic Short Hair (DSH), male, DOB: 7/3/22.
Don’t let the fact that he comes in a small package fool you, Sweet Potater has an engaging, larger-than-life personality and so much love he is brimming with enthusiasm to share. With a cuteness-meter off the charts, this fawning young feline will reveal his endearing and delightfully sweet charm to one-and-all in his completely well-intentioned, but mischievous, spirited play and uninhibited invitations for one-on-one time and attention from people.
A sincerely loving kitten eager to share his affections with those he loves when opportunities are presented (and sometimes when they are not), he’ll reveal a much softer-side as he begins to settle-down after play sessions, complete with genuine good-nature and delightfully sweet, uninhibited invitations for one-on-one attention. Seeking encouragement from gentle strokes and soft-spoken words, he revels in being close to people, he enjoys being held and snuggling in peoples’ arms (when it suits him), and he will choose attention and interaction with those he loves over just about any other activity.
Sweet Potater came to Monroe SPCA as an emergency intake, at just 16 weeks of age. His left eye had completely ruptured, due to an eye infection or injury that was left untreated. He also had a very distended belly. Once he was healthy and stable, we were able to get him into surgery through our vet to remove his left eye. His right eye, though heavily scared did not need to be removed and he is able to see quite well with it. He was also treated for URI, malnutrition, ear mites, Giardia, Coccidia, fleas, and Tape and Roundworm while with us.
Now a happy, healthy feline, Sweet Potater is looking for his forever home with a family who can give him the time and attention a special guy like him needs. Because of his limited sight, he is a special needs feline, however he goes through his daily activities with relative ease.
Sweet Potater is best suited as an indoor pet and companion for a home with a calm, low-active to moderately active lifestyle and no active young children under the age of six (6). He is comfortable with other compatible cats and kittens, and he’ll be comfortable in the presence of well-mannered, cat-friendly dogs after being given some adjustment time to warm-up and settle into his new surroundings. As with all Monroe SPCA adoptable animals, a home visit and a meet-n-greet with any housemate pets will be required prior to adoption.
Sweet Potater currently resides at Monroe SPCA’s Adoption Center and Retail Store. You can meet him by appointment with pre-approved adoption application. To start the adoption process, complete and submit Monroe SPCA’s adoption application linked above.
All Monroe SPCA cats available for adoption have an adoption fee of $85.00. This fee includes the cat being spayed or neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, dewormed, tested for FeLV and FIV, and microchipped with lifelong registration prior to adoption.
Completed applications can be emailed to info@monroespca.org or dropped off at Monroe SPCA’s Adoption Center and Retail Store located at 293 W. Monroe Street, Dundee, MI.
