My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Michael! ‍

Michael is a beautiful 8 year old boy who weighs approx 65 lbs. He is a mix of Labrador Retriever & Mallorcan Shepherd. Brains and beauty all in one!

Sadly, Michael has suffered a lot in his life. He grew up in Mexico with an owner who physically abused him. When his owner decided he no longer wanted Michael, he took him to the pound to be euthanized. The rescue stepped in and brought Michael to safety. He is now living with a foster family in Guadalajara, Mexico.

Michael is looking for a forever home with someone who will show him what it's like to be loved. He longs for human acceptance and wants so much to make his person happy. He is very friendly with people, despite his past abuse. All he wants is a loving human connection.

We don’t know all the details of Michael’s upbringing, but something in his past caused him to be wary of other dogs, particularly unneutered males. He gets along with female dogs and neutered males, but ideally he'd like to be the only pet in the home. Also no cats for this guy please. Michael is a people-oriented dog, so although he’s not a social butterfly with other pets, he is a very loyal companion to his humans.

Michael is the perfect pup for someone who is looking for an adventure buddy! Even though he is an older adult dog, he has a good amount of energy, loves long walks, loves exploring nature, and never says no to some outdoor fun. He knows how to walk on a leash and he rides well in the car too. Whether it’s a stroll around town or a road trip to the mountain trails, Michael will be your perfect sidekick.

At home, Michael is a well-behaved guy. He's happy to lounge around with his humans and just chill out. He is house trained and does not guard his food or toys. He is not an excessive barker.

Michael is also very intelligent and picks up training quickly, especially given his eagerness to please. He has already completed basic obedience training. Michael is food motivated which is a great tool for positive reinforcement training. Being a mix of lab and shepherd, Michael comes by his smarts honestly and would thrive with an owner who will keep his mind stimulated.

Michael has a clean bill of health from the vet. He is SNAP 4Dx tested (negative for heartworm, Lyme disease, Ehrlichia, and anaplasma). He is neutered, fully vaccinated, dewormed, and recently had hernia repair surgery (fully recovered).

If you can give Michael the forever home he so deserves, please submit an online application by clicking the ADOPT button. Michael is currently still in Mexico with his fosters, and he will travel to BC once his perfect match is found. ‍

**PLEASE NOTE: There will be an additional $235 transport fee for transportation to Canada. This will be discussed upon approval.**
