My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! I'm Sam! I arrived at Alex's House when I was a puppy. They helped me survive parvo and found me a home. Fast forward 10 years later and my family dynamics changed and they asked Alex's House to take me back. I'm a sweet boy. I still have a good amount of energy if you like to go for walks. I'm also happy to hang out on the sofa with you.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We required a short adoption application, home visit and veterinarian reference. We have an adoption contract which we will email you prior to the home visit. We try to return calls and emails within 24 to 48 hours and complete home visits within 3 to 5 days. We are all-volunteer, so we do have to work around work schedules. Our adoption fees vary depending on the dog and the distance we have to travel for the home visit/adoption.

Go meet their pets

Alex's House at this time does not have a shelter building. All dogs are at foster homes, so people need to contact us to make an appointment. Usually we bring the dogs to you but if you prefer to meet the dogs at a local dog park prior to the home visit, we can arrange for that.

More about this rescue

Alex's House is a non-profit 501(c)(3) dog rescue that was initially envisioned as a hospice home for old and sick dogs that had been abandoned by their owners at area shelters. Alex’s House wanted to ensure that the dogs’ remaining time was a happy and comfortable one. However, Alex’s House quickly realized that dogs of all ages in this area are in need of rescue and so they opened their rescue to as many as they could. That number remains somewhat small as the rescue continues to be a foster-home-based rescue in need of a kennel building. Alex’s House is a local rescue—saving dogs in Butler County. When people support Alex’s House, they are supporting needs in Butler County. Over the past 15 years, Alex’s House has saved over 500 lives. They are all-volunteer. That means that every dollar donated goes to feed and provide medical care for the rescued dogs. There are no salaried employees. Every bowl of food given out, every load of laundry washed, every mess cleaned up, every sick and frightened dog held--is all done by volunteers who sacrifice their time and energy so that dogs in need have a chance to live.
