In the heart of our shelter resides a true gem called Emma: a sweet and intriguing tabby who's on her journey to embrace trust and connection. This beautiful, sweet tabby girl came to EHS from another shelter with her daughter Robyn, who recently found a forever home. While we don't know much about Emma's past, we do know she's had a tough few months and could definitely use some stability and tender love and care.
The shelter is both Emma's refuge and her challenge. Upon her arrival, she preferred the safety of solitude, watching the world from a distance. The high window ledge has often been her perch, a place of observation, introspection, and retreat when overwhelmed. When stressed, she finds solace in corners, cubbies, and spaces where she can gather her thoughts and feelings.
Through the efforts of caring volunteers, Emma's trust is beginning to blossom and the back-scratcher is her bridge to connection; she has been seen rolling around and showing her belly off in exchange for some scratches with it. When approached slowly, she accepts the gentle touch of affection on her forehead, cheeks, and chin. Emma's comfort level grows in a calm, steady environment, built on shared moments and understanding. Loud noises, fast movements, and unexpected intrusions jar her world. The yowling of a fellow feline resident adds stress to her sanctuary.
We have learned that Emma enjoys the company of male cats, and begins to open up with a companion. A dream home for Emma would be one where a friendly male feline already resides, or one with plans to adopt her alongside a male cat friend! The ideal adopter for Emma is someone who is patient and can read cat body language. She will require time, lots of love, patience, and care to build trust and open her heart to people. Emma arrived at EHS with her daughter so we believe she gets along with other cats. However, we are not sure how Emma might behave around dogs or small children.
Emma is a diamond in the rough, waiting to be polished by a loving, patient and understanding adopter. Will you help Emma shine? Please submit an adoption application today! -------------------- The adoption fee for a single cat at EHS is $175. Take home an adult feline friend for your kitty and the adoption fee for the pair is $300! For kittens under six months of age, the adoption fee is $200...Or double your cuteness quotient and adopt two wee furballs for $350! If you mix and match (kitten plus cat), the adoption fee is $300. Each of our cats is spayed/neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, snap tested for FIV/FeLV, dewormed, and flea treated prior to adoption. Kittens are not spayed or neutered until 5 months of age, but the cost of spay/neuter will be covered as part of the adoption. -------------------- Interested in adopting Emma? It's easy!
