Additional adoption info

ARF Tulsa does not ship our pets. If you are interested in adopting a pet you can visit our website http://arftulsa.org/adopt where you will find our online application. If your application is approved, you will then need to come to Tulsa to meet the pet and make sure it is right for your family.

All of our animals are listed on PetFinder and can be found on the link. Our PetFinder database is updated frequently and is as current as possible. We process all applications as they are received. We require a NON-REFUNDABLE adoption donation. This donation is required ONLY IF APPLICATION IS APPROVED.

All applicants must meet the following criteria:
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must own home or have landlord approval
Must have a valid ID with current address
Must have a good reference from current veterinarian
ALL current pets must be spayed/neutered
ALL current pets must be up to date on all vaccines
ALL current pets must be current on heartworm prevention
Agree to a home visit when board members think appropriate
Sign a legally binding adoption contract upon adoption

Adoption donations are as follows:
$175+ for dogs 7 years or younger
$100+ for most dogs older than 7 years
$120+ for kittens under 10 months of age
$90+ for cats over 10 months of age
$60+ for senior cats over 8 years of age

To see adoption donations for a specific animal, please visit their Petfinder.com profile.

What your adoption donation covers:
Your new pet’s spay or neuter
Microchipping for future identification
Heartworm test (dogs) and FIV/FeLV test (cats)
Current vaccinations
Specific blood tests
Diagnostic testing if needed

In addition to your adoption donation, you are strongly encouraged to purchase 6 months of heartworm preventative for any adopted dog at the time of the adoption. This can be purchased from one of our vets (see “Partner Vets” to the right) or from your own vet. All provided services listed above can be completed at one of our Partner Vets as part of your adoption.

Before you fill out an application, please understand that:
ARF Tulsa does not ship our pets you will be required to pick up your pet in Tulsa.
ARF Tulsa does not adopt puppies or kittens (under the age of 6 months) to applicants who live outside the immediate Tulsa area we do consider suburbs that share boundary lines with Tulsa. This is because they are too young at that time to be spayed or neutered. Special considerations can be made and should be discussed before making an application.
Applicants outside the immediate Tulsa area must have excellent veterinary records in their name for current or recent cats or dogs. If you haven’t owned a pet, and you don’t live in Tulsa County, you aren’t eligible to adopt from us.
ARF Tulsa requires reasonable veterinarian care for all pets.
If you have never owned a pet, you must live within the Tulsa area. Exceptions can be made on a case-by-case basis.
ARF Tulsa retains the authority to accept or decline applications at our discretion

More about this rescue

Our Mission - For more than 25 years, ARF Tulsa has been helping homeless pets of the Tulsa area find loving homes. We do this by rescuing homeless animals out of area shelters that were possibly in line for euthanasia, placing them in foster homes, providing their comprehensive veterinary care, and finding suitable adoptive homes.
