Crate Trained: No. Anxious in crate and attempts break out
Walks Nicely On A Leash: Workin’ on it

Special Needs: **See Below
Physical Fence: Required
Favorite Toy / Activity: Playing with dog friends, chewing a bone or tennis ball.

Arrival story: Captain came to Waggin’ Tails from Detroit Animal Control as a stray. Sadly, his owners were located via microchip but were unresponsive in attempts to reunite.

Approximate age / Weight: 2 yrs old and 50 lbs

Personality: Everyone who meets Captain says he is the best-behaved husky. He is all about the fun things in life, enjoying time with humans and dog friends equally. Right now he plays and chases his foster dog sisters during the day and then curls up with the humans on the couch or bed at night. Captain definitely has an outgoing personality and is not shy about asking for pets and attention.

Captain is outdoorsy and lives to chase a ball or his dog pals in the yard. If you’re laughing at his silly antics and husky talk, he is happy. While he does “talk,” overall Captain is a quiet boy. He’s great at the vet clinic and on car rides. Vet staff love to shower him with attention and he loves the treats they dole out. Captain was successfully treated for heartworm disease.

** Special Needs: Captain does have mild separation anxiety and prefers to be with people, or another dog. He currently takes low dosage anti-anxiety meds. While Captain does not do well being confined in a crate/kennel, with a history of breakout attempts, he has good house manners when left to roam freely when humans leave the home, finding a comfy spot for good nap.

Forever Home: Captain is looking for fun, playful type of humans to share his adventurous spirit with. Our husky boy demands plenty of activities and exercise for his active mind and body. Another dog in the family is ideal as he finds comfort with a dog pal along with humans who are home more often than not. A secure fenced yard is necessary as Captain, in true husky fashion, has a history of going on unsupervised adventures.
