My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Samantha - Sweet Mostly White Tabby Cat for Adoption or Foster

Contact e-mail dcmcats@yahoo.com

Samantha is a mostly white kitty whose owner passed away. She is a chatty cat and a serious lover! A family member took her in, but had to move out of state for work and the house was being renovated, so a friend took her in after that. She is friendly and wants to come out to join the household, but the other cats just won’t have it! When in a new place, she will seek out a quiet space if other pets are around, but after awhile she wants to be an active part of the household. She would be fine being the only cat, but has lived in a household with dogs and other cats.

Samantha really had a rough start in life. She was homeless and sought help from a friendly human. She just walked up to the lady’s brother at his job about 10 yrs. ago, crying for help. She had mange, a broken tail, and was pregnant. Poor baby is such a sweetheart too! Unfortunately, her original rescuer passed away as well. She was fixed and ear tipped at that time even though she has been an inside kitty ever since then. She may have a little nerve damage around her tail due to the old injury, but it does not affect her mobility in any way.

Samantha was brought for a vet check recently and received updated shots and is in excellent health. Her health records are available.

Please e-mail dcmcats@yahoo.com for an application and include in your reply a little about yourself and your household and what your typical daily and weekend schedule is like.

Thank you if you can help out sweet Samantha!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We do an e-mail/phone interview so we can help match you to our adoptable cats. You may also try out a cat to adopt! Adoptions are finalized with an adoption agreement. We hope to adopt our cats only to forever homes, but we will always take back a cat that is adopted from us should the adopter be unable to keep the cat due to unforeseen circumstances.

We also have cats available for fostering! Fosters fill out a questionnaire so we can help match you up.

Our adopters and fosters must be local to the Greater New Orleans area. We do not adopt out of state or transport cats out of the general area.

More about this rescue

OUR MISSION

NOLA’s Ark Cats, Inc. ("NOLA’s Ark Cats") mission is to offer services to the community of the Greater New Orleans area for the care of homeless cats and kittens. Such services include, but are not limited to: daily care and medical attention for homeless cats and kittens (including veterinary care and purchases of food and other supplies); foster and adoption options; neuter-trap-release for feral and homeless cats; and expertise and assistance to the community and to other caregivers of feral colonies. NOLA’s Ark Cats works to establish a network of animal caregivers whereby people can share ideas/information and offer assistance to each other. NOLA’s Ark Cats further aims to educate the community, and to invite participation by the community in the care of cats.

We are an ALL VOLUNTEER organization, so any and all assistance is greatly appreciated. Here are some ways that you can help us and our family of furry kitty critters:

Foster: Provide a temporary home to an adult or younger cat or two.

Donate: Food, scoopable litter, and comfort items (toys, blankets, crates, beds) are always needed!

Medical Care Help: We have an account with a local veterinarian, so donations can be made directly to our account for vet care, and you will know that every cent went toward the much needed care of the cats.

TNR Program: We are also looking for kind people with back yards and porches to accommodate feral and semi-feral outside cats for our Trap-Neuter-Return trapper and cat caretaker friends.

We cannot accept cats from the general public but we are happy to help with advice on how to find homes and screen potential adopters.
