Their adoption process

We value a comprehensive adoption process that includes a strong focus on matching the right animal with the right owner to minimize future struggles within the family. All animals in our care receive recommended (age-appropriate) vaccinations and tests, are given monthly parasite prevention, and are spayed/neutered and microchipped.

Adoption steps

  1. Submit Application
    1. We will review your application and complete a vet reference check for any current or previous pets.
  2. Home Check
    1. We check rental pet policies and public GIS records for home ownership or landlord permission, and we call your vet (if any) for references.
  3. Approve Application
    1. When your application is approved, it is forwarded to the foster parent to review.
  4. Interview
    1. The foster parent will reach out to you to discuss and determine if you and the animal are a good match.
  5. Meet the Pet
    1. You'll meet the pet so that the two of you can get to know each other.
  6. Sign Adoption Contract
    1. You'll sign our adoption contract and pay the adoption fee.
  7. Take the Pet Home
    1. Congratulations on your new family member!

We have no facility; all our animals live as temporary family members in foster homes. We do have public cat adoption cages are partnering businesses and veterinary offices, such as Petsense (Madison Heights), Forest Pet Care (Forest), Seven Hills Animal Hospital (Forest), Animal Emergency and Critical Care (Lynchburg), Lake Forest Animal Hospital (Forest), and Diamond Hill Animal Hospital (Lynchburg).

We also hold public adoption events periodically throughout the year.

More about this rescue

Central Virginia Regional Rescue is a volunteer-based non-profit dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption of regional animals into permanent and loving homes. Through education and community outreach, we aspire to eliminate the need for euthanasia as a means of pet population control. We are a 501c3 organization and all donations are tax deductible. We have no facility and all our animals live as temporary family members in foster homes. We have no paid employees and every dollar donated goes directly to our animals.
