My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello, I’m Jojo!

I'm a sweet and playful lug of a boy. I am a low maintenance dog who spends my day in leisure but will be your best buddy if you play with me. My favorites are playing ball and tug of war. I am house and crate trained, and I walk great on a leash. I also know basic commands. I am NOT a chewer and am very well behaved in the home.

I am a definite cuddle bug and loyal protector. Because of my size, I would do best with older children. I don't get along with most other dogs and I need to be an only pet. I can do well with submissive dogs that I can trust, but I need slow introductions. I was rescued from a hoarding situation and pulled by Operation Save a Shelter Dog from Rowan County Animal Shelter. My rescue doesn’t know what I went through during that time, but I am hoping for a much better life moving forward. I am looking for a peaceful home where I can be loved and happy.

I'm a 7-year-old, 60 lb. pit mix. I'm neutered, current on vaccines, heartworm negative and microchipped. I'm living in a foster home in Hampton, Virginia, but I can be transported out of state to the right home. If you think you are the one for me, please fill out an adoption application and my rescue will be in contact if we are a match!

More about this rescue

Our Mission

Operation Save A Shelter Dog is a foster based, IRS-recognized 501c(3) rescue whose mission is to work with shelters on the East Coast by saving dogs at high risk of euthanasia or that have little hope of adoption in their current condition. Not only is it our goal to find furever homes for our dogs, but also to educate the public on the importance of spaying, neutering, vaccinating and providing preventative care for their pets.
