Hi! I’m Nico! I’m a year old old and I’m a very special guy. I have a congenital malformation in the part of my brain that controls thirst. Basically, my brain doesn’t tell me I need to drink water. I have a low profile G tube that my foster parents use to give me water. I have to have a specific amount of water each day to keep my sodium levels in check. Currently, I get 900ml of water through the tube. My foster parents break it up into three or four times a day. I’m on a special hormone to help my body utilize the water I’m taking in. Before the hormone, I needed double the amount of water and I would constantly pee. Now, I’m learning how to tell foster mom and dad when I need to go outside!

Other than the medical stuff, I’m a very happy boy! I love running around with my foster siblings, but I’m a true couch potato at heart. There’s nothing I like more than cuddling with the other dogs in the household. I love meeting new people and I’m a very gentle boy. I’m good with kids, cats, and other dogs.

I do have to wear a surgical suit to prevent me from messing with my tube site. And foster mom likes to put a belly band on me as well as an extra layer so I don’t mess with it. I would love a home with another laid back dog and a yard so I can keep up with my potty training!
