My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Oliver is more of the shy one, but his shyness is what makes him so cute and sweet. He is a pretty calm cat and doesn't ask for much, or cause much trouble. He is so smart, curious, and observant. He surprisingly does get very energetic and playful, and loves to run around with his brother, Wally or his ball. He isn't really a lap cat, there's been a few times where he's sat with his foster mom with one half of his body on their lap and the other half on the couch or bed.

He likes to come up to snuggle for a little while before bed. He seems to enjoy just being close to his foster parent even if it isn’t sitting on their lap the whole time. He does really great with more individual attention. So for example, Wally is the one who demands more attention most of the time, so it’s kind of easy for Oliver to just follow his lead. But something like sitting with just Oliver and brushing him for a while is a great way to bond with him and get him happy and purring. He absolutely loves to be brushed, which is something Wally doesn’t care for much so it’s a time just for Oliver.

He really is such a little lover, it's just more on his terms and it's only when he really trusts you. Oliver is Wally's most loyal companion and wants to do anything he does. So if he sees Wally being pet and hears him purring, Oliver almost always comes up to join to get some attention too. It's very sweet how much he trusts Wally.

Oliver started to be really interested in his foster mom’s phone a while back, like at a video, and would get in my face and climb on me because of the moving objects on the screen, like he wanted to play. So eventually she started playing him videos of birds and squirrels and such on an iPad and he loved it.

Wally and Oliver have been together their whole lives and we plan to keep them together by placing them in a forever home as a pair.

CCR adopts to forever homes in Chicago or the very near suburbs that are within 10 miles of our Chicago foster families. We love our cats and we pledge support for the rest of their lives, which is why our location limits are in place. We appreciate your understanding. If you are outside of these limits, please check petfinder.com, which allows searching by zip code, for cats closer to your home.

At Chicago Cat Rescue, we are dedicated to both the physical and emotional well-being of the cats and kittens in our care. For this reason, unless expressly stated, we do not place cats or kittens in homes where they will be the only cat. Generally, cats love the company of other cats, and can become quite lonely when living alone.

Kittens will only be placed in pairs, or to join another kitten or young cat in your home.

Chicago Cat Rescue is an entirely foster-based organization. Our ability to help more cats in need is dependent on our availability of foster homes. If you think you could provide a loving foster situation for a cat in need, or would like to learn more about our foster program, please email us, info@chicagocatrescue.org. Thank you!
