My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

See Emmie live in action: https://www.swh.org/staff-favorites.html

Meet Emmie! Emmie is a 1-year-old, 55lb American Blue Heeler mix. She is a very playful and sweet girl and will never turn away pets! She loves attention and being told she's a good girl. She's an active dog and would love a space such as a backyard or dog park to exercise in. Emmie is dog-friendly and would just prefer no cats in her future home. She is friendly overall but due to her size and activity level, we recommend no young kids/toddlers with her. If you are looking for an active dog who you can take running, hiking, or just out and about, Emmie may be the perfect match for you!

More about this shelter

The mission of the Humane Society of Southwest Missouri is to aid in the alleviation of distress and suffering of animals by operating a shelter in need of care, placing animals in suitable homes, and offering educational programs that promote animal welfare.

We receive our animals from people giving up their pets for a variety of reasons, including changes in family situations and moving. Some of our animals have been strays rescued from the streets by a kind citizen, but all of our animals are looking for permanent, loving forever homes.
