My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*Georgie is looking for an adult-only home where he can shine as the only pet.*

Non-Shedding, Single Male SEEKING Non-Codependent, Single Human

I am a 4 year old, independent Labradoodle who enjoys the companionship of a human--but on my terms. My heart has been broken before, so it takes some time for me to build trust in a relationship. Once we have that emotional breakthrough, however, I am quite affectionate. It is important to me that I'm given space, and admittedly, I can be a little controlling. My ex will tell you I should sleep in a separate bed because I don't appreciate being disturbed in my sleep. I need a life partner who understands that while I will love them deeply, I just need to do it from a distance sometimes. So if you are looking for a companion to immediately fill the void in your heart, I'm not right for you. Our love needs time to grow.

I've heard my caretakers discussing how intelligent I am. Afterall, I am a Labradoodle, which is why I enjoy playing fetch and will drop the ball in your lap like a gentleman. Of course, I am fully housebroken and have never been destructive in the office where I vacation periodically. When I'm not in deep thought or listening to self-help tapes, I would be just fine lying at the feet of my companion. After all, I expect to have my own bed, so I understand I have to give too, and that the couch belongs to my person. I believe they call it "boundaries."

I also have no interest in polyamorous relationships, so I need to be your only animal companion. I must also admit that I'm not a huge fan of most humans as they typically want love all over me immediately. I don't do needy. I like to hang out with my person and would prefer a home where there aren't a lot of strangers coming and going, especially kids. At this time, I have zero interest in going to dog parks and walking trails where I have to interact with strangers and other dogs. I'd definitely do best with a homebody.

So far, my life has made me become a bit protective of the things I love, and that will include you. To help with this, my people found a super cool lady who knows all kinds of things about canine behavior, but she also speaks Doodle fluently! She will be providing her support to help transition Georgie into his home and adjust to a new relationship.

That's it. That's me. I'm Georgie. If you think you are the one, please email adoptionprograms@hamiltonhumane.com so we can get this party of 2 started.

More about this shelter

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.

This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
