My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

🌼DIABETIC DELIGHT🌼

🐾 Meet Mama 🌸 a little special needs lady looking for a forever family to keep her on track to the best years of her life.

Mama is about 9 years old & has been recently diagnosed with diabetes. She has handled her new protocol at life very well and is adapting and feeling so much better now that she is being regulated.

Diabetes sounds like a scary thing but let us tell you why it's not & how easy it is to care for a special needs girl like mama!

Every 12 hours she is given insulin by injection, with an extremely small needle 💉, she is fed pate wet food only, her water intake and attitude is monitored to make sure she is "feeling herself" & that's really it. She will always need regular vet visits with blood work and continued care but that is what every kitty should have!

Mama is looking for a foster to adopt or a foster to get back into a home of a regular house cat. If you are not experienced but want to learn, we will teach you! The little extra work this girl requires will absolutely be repaid in her charming, sweet and gentle souled personality. This girl is a true gem 💎 & deserves nothing but the best!

If interested in learning more about mama, diabetes in cats or or the care she requires please feel free to email us at hvars.adoptions@gmail.com or submit an application at HVARS.org

*even if interested in only fostering, an application does need to be submitted*

More about this rescue

Hudson Valley Animal Rescue & Sanctuary (HVARS) is a 501c3 non-profit animal rescue, wildlife rehabilitation center & low cost vet service clinic. Our mission started when we felt there was such a need to be able to bring affordable vet care to our community. In 2011 we opened our first low cost spay/neuter and vaccine clinic as a mobile hospital. Weekly we ran clinics out of our local Petco's parking lot where people were able to come and receive vaccines and affordable spaying & neutering services. From there we saw how much of an impact our services had on the community and how much we were needed.

In 2015 we opened our stationary hospital that we run out of to this day. We renovated an old barn on our founders property and little by little made it ready to serve the community in so many ways. We are now a multi Vet facility that offers everything from wellness clinics to more complex surgeries, dentals, x-rays, bloodwork and more. We are so happy to be able to offer all these services and only wish to continue to grow and help more people and their pets. All of the money that comes through our clinic services is given right back to our animals that we take in, rescue, rehabilitate and adopt out. It is also used for the hundreds of wildlife we take in orphaned, injured or misplaced every year. We have 4 NYS wildlife & RVS licensed rehabilitators on staff and many other volunteering under our organization to nurse orphaned wildlife such as squirrels, raccoons, possums, skunks, fawn, fox and woodchucks.

We are not open to the public and all services are done by appointment only so please call ahead. We are open 7 days a week and here to help!
