Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Jimmy Jam is a cuddly, curious, affectionate and goofy German Shepherd. Jimmy has a condition called Masticular Muscle Myositis that affects the muscles in his face and jaw, as a result, he lacks chewing strength and is not able to fully open his mouth. Despite those minor challenges, he thrives! He does well eating soft foods, like soaked kibble and wet food, and loves to play with any toys that he can fit in his mouth. He takes lots of naps and loves to rub his face on his bed.
Jimmy Jam has some shepherd energy for sure, but he settles down very quickly and gets most of his energy out with walks and short bursts of playtime. During training, he is focused, smart, and very obedient. He behaves well in the car, though he can get sick. Jimmy does great on walks, however he is showing some reactivity at first introduction to new dogs, but that has been manageable by redirecting him with high value treats. With proper introduction, he does great with other dogs.
Jimmy is being fostered in a home with 2 other dogs, but has not been observed with children or cats. He is house trained, and is doing well with crate training.

Interested in adopting?
1. Please complete our online form at heartsforpawsrescue.com/adoption-application
2. We will respond in 1-3 days for a call!
3. If it sounds like a potential match for you and the dog of interest, we will promptly set up a meet and greet at the foster home
Please note we are a foster-based rescue meaning our dogs are in individual foster homes throughout sac and the bay. For this reason we may only be able to schedule meets for one dog at a time (or litter). The average timeline between app submission and a meet and greet is 3-5 days. Please only submit an application for a specific dog if you are ready to adopt that animal within a week's time.
