Meet Tia!

Tia is an approximately 1-2 year old American Bulldog/Lab mix pup. She was found roaming the streets and was brought to a very high kill shelter in GA. Tia was used for breeding and her last litter of puppies were sold off at 3-4 weeks old. Tia came to the shelter, full of milk that was hardening up, she was severely underweight and full of worms. She also had sores all over her body. This poor baby was severely neglected. Her time was up at the shelter and she was set to be euthanized when Whiskers Fund stepped in to save her beautiful soul.

Now that Tia is back to being healthy, she is starting to show us her personality.
Tia is VERY smart. She knows lots of commands like sit, stay, beg, load up and she is easy to train. This girl is pretty much perfect. She does very well in the car.... as long as she is NOT crated in the car. She will let you know her displeasure of being crated in the car and would prefer to ride shotgun or at least in the back seat- I mean who can blame her! Tia has shown a bit of separation anxiety, but that has gotten better since she has left the shelter and we believe will continue to improve as she settles into her forever home.

Tia has a fair amount of energy and she really just wants to do whatever you are doing. If you are playing, she wants to play, if you are hanging and watching TV, well she is hanging and watching TV with you. Tia really just wants to always be with you, whether you are headed out on an adventure or staying home and cuddling up on the couch or in bed - so if you’re not into dogs on the fur-niture, she might not be the dog for you.

If you think you are the right match for her, please apply to adopt here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScq8ShXPVGLfrGHlIYMk0plgI_PJxOEMdr8QItpQMXYCnluvg/view-form

The adoption fee is $550.

All of our animals are fully vetted before going to their furever homes. They are spayed/neutered, current on vaccines, dewormed, up to date on flea/tick prevention, heartworm prevention, and microchipped!

Please Note: All animals are posted until they are officially adopted. This animal may have other interested adopters in line.

We are very quick to respond and process applications! You will be required to provide 2 non family personal references, a home video tour and a vet reference if you’ve previously had animals. Please feel free to send video to our email or facebook upon submitting an application, this lets us know you are serious and ready but also helps us to get you approved quickly. We will text and or call upon receiving your application to schedule a phone interview.

You must be an approved adopter in order to go on meet and greets. This saves everyone’s time- especially our gracious foster families! This also allows for you to take the animals home from the meet and greet if you so choose.

Interested in fostering? We would love to have you join our family! Fill out the same application above- we have our fosters go through the same process as adopters!

Their adoption process

1.

Submit Application

We are 100% foster based so we require any potential adopters to be fully approved to adopt with us before being allowed to do a meet/greet.

2.

Interview

Approx 45 min phone call, followed by 2 non family personal reference checks, and a vet check. Landlords are contacted for renters.

3.

Home Check

In addition to the above a full video submission of home tour is required to insure a safe and suitable home can be provided.

4.

Approve Application

Once approved, you never need to apply again- you are approved to adopt dogs or cats as we discuss both over our application regardless.

5.

Meet the Pet

Time/place set that works for both foster and adopter for a M/G.Intent for the adopter to bring the pet home if they want. We do not hold.

6.

Sign Adoption Contract

Set up on docusign, drafted by our lawyer. Animals must be returned to us should adopter ever need to rehome.

7.

Pay Fee

Once contract is signed and they are going to take the pet home they submit payment for the adoption fee and take the pet home!

Additional adoption info

We are extremely quick to respond to applications and have a system in place to be able to quickly and safely approve adopters. We are extremely transparent in our procedure and let people know they hold the timing on it. We will not call references until a home video is submitted to ensure they are serious. We provide an adoption bag for all animals including their favorite toys, current food and treats, microchip information (all animals are chipped with Smart Tag chips that are linked to WF and that information is not removable- we set up owners accounts in addition to this). All medical records are sent electronically to adopters so they can set pet up with a wellness visit to get them established at their vet and set up on preventatives! We also have a private facebook group adopters can join if they so choose and make sure litter mate adopters are connected if they so choose to be so they can all stay in touch! Kittens are adopted in pairs or home must have another young playful cat!

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

We are 100% foster based across the entire US. We provide transport at no additional fee to the perfect home for our animals. 90% of our animals come from the south and we take them north to be adopted. We absolutely love to do meet and greets and approved adopters are put in touch with the fosters to set up a time and place that works best for everyone! We do allow approved adopters to commit and adopt before meeting but adopters do not pay the adoption fee until they have the animal.

More about this rescue

We are Whiskers Fund!

We are a dog and cat rescue in honor of Heather’s late heart kitty, Mr. Whiskers. Heather is the rescue founder, she worked in Veterinary Medicine for 15+ years. Because of her background in vet med Whiskers Fund is able to take on medical needs cases that most rescues cannot afford to or have the foster resources to do so. Heather comes from an aviation family and has used her flight benefits to fly animals for countless other rescues and Whiskers Fund to be adopted for over 15 years. She has since left vet med to pursue aviation as her main career with intent to become a pilot full time along with buying a private plane to help fly animals out of the south which gives local shelters and rescues without this resource more local adopters. Whiskers Fund will always put the animals needs first, we do not find animals for people. We find people for our animals. Whiskers Fund has saved countless parvo puppies, 11 Panleukopenia kitties, many three legged, one eyed, blind, deaf, and hind end paralyzed animals. We know that they are all deserving of being loved and have love to give no matter what. Whiskers Fund also helps our local TNR efforts and anyone we can to be able to help pets stay with their people if they have fallen on hard times. Our 501(c)(3) is underway!
