Meet Sadie! She is around 1-year-old and is such a good girl! She is affectionate and wicked smart! She is also very food motivated so training should be a breeze! Sadie can be slow to warm up to new people, but once she does, she is completely bonded and you have a new BFF! Sadie is generally a pretty quiet dog, but when she does bark, you can't help but laugh! Behind her big, brown, shy eyes lies a world of untapped affection waiting to blossom!
Here is what Kaylee, one of Sadie's daily caretakers, has to say about her: "Sadie is one of my favorite here at the shelter. She's very affectionate and playful. She loves to hop like a bunny when she excited or sit and people watch with me. She is an amazing snuggler and just a happy girl. She is a little shy at first and might take a minute to warm up to you but once she does she'll never stop giving love."
Recently, Sadie went to a temporary foster home and she's been doing great!! Her foster, Kelly, has this to share: "Sadie is such a playful, cuddly girl! She has truly brightened up our home while she's been here. She will have short bursts of energy (it's so cute how she runs with her front legs fully extended, almost like she's hopping!) then will calm down for a while. We have found that she loves to burrow in blankets, which is super cute! Sadie is for the most part potty trained (she's had a few accidents in the house, but we've chalked those up to excitement over being in a new place). She is good at playing with tug-of-rope, squeaky toys, and bones! She will make such an amazing companion. We will miss her so very much when she gets adopted, but will be so happy to know she has the forever home she deserves!"
Sadie could live with older, calm children and possibly another dog. She is looking for a home with no felines.
Sadie can't wait to get out of the shelter and into a loving home! To help make that happen, her adoption fee has been waived!

More about this shelter
For over 20 years, the Humane Animal Treatment Society has been making Mid-Michigan a safer place for companion animals through innovative programs and community education.
The Humane Animal Treatment Society (HATS) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal welfare organization that is independently operated, serving the Mid-Michigan area. HATS is contracted to be the sole provider of all animal care and adoption services at the Isabella County Animal Control facility. Each year we help nearly 1,000 homeless or lost pets; providing food, vaccinations, veterinary care, and a clean, safe environment while they await placement in their forever homes or a safe return to their owner. We also operate the HATS Health Clinic which provides low-cost spay and neuter services to help reduce animal overpopulation in our community.
Our organization relies on donations, local community support, and grant funds to allow us to continue our lifesaving services. Each day we make our community a better place for homeless animals by giving them a second chance at life with the opportunity to receive the medical care and behavioral support they need to make their way into a loving forever home. We continuously strive to educate our community on responsible pet ownership, provide support for pet owners in times of need, and as always, promote the humane treatment of all animals.
