My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hansel is being fostered in PA.

My name is Hansel and I am a very good boy. I came all the way from Texas to Pennsylvania and I am now learning what cold weather does to my achy old man bones. I have trouble with my hips and luxating patellas so I walk a little funny. I’m still going to brave any weather to do my thing outside because I am a good boy like that. Sometimes you can even find me running in the yard!

I am very laid back and like to snooze the day away or get rubs in my foster mom’s lap. I am not high maintenance at all. I am housebroken, well, mostly, when an old guy has to go sometimes he has to really go. I’m not that good about telling you when I have to go but if you take me out when I wake up from one of my long naps everything should be fine. I am a very slender 8 pounds. I was just neutered so I may gain a little weight but that’s okay because I can use it. I have 13 teeth and even though I can eat crunchy toy breed food I do tend to prefer my food a little softer. Sometimes I like to eat my food all at once but sometimes I like to save a little bit for later.

I was found as a stray, and someone brought me to the shelter where BDRA found me. I had a temporary foster mom and dad there and I liked to hang out with my foster dad. I easily adjusted to my new foster mom and dad and all their other pups. I don’t play with toys but if I find a bone laying around, oh boy! Happy day for me! I can see out of one eye but the other one has a mature cataract. I am very quiet, and my foster mom laughed the two times that I barked. She didn’t think I knew how to do it; I reserve it for only when someone is pestering me. I don’t bother any of the pups, I’m more of a keep to myself kind of guy but if I find you in my toasty bed, I might give you a nudge to send you on your way. An old guy needs his heating pad, you know?

If I come to live with you, I will be a good companion and not cause any trouble. I just want to live my life being loved.
BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.
