My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*WE ARE NOT A SHELTER* Our foster-based rescue is run by volunteers. Please submit an application on our website SHELTERFRIENDS.ORG if interested.*

Turbo was found emaciated in El Reno, OK. Our rescue took him in immediately and learned he is heartworm positive, sadly. We're having that treated, getting him plenty of small meals throughout the day and he should be ready for his furever home by the end of April.

His $200 adoption fees include: neuter, vaccines, deworming, microchip and all medical treatment necessary for heartworms.

**PROCESSING OF APPLICATIONS CAN TAKE UP TO 5 DAYS. ADD SHELTERFRIENDSOK@GMAIL.COM TO YOUR CONTACTS SO OUR EMAILS DON'T GO TO SPAM.*

More about this rescue

We are a nonprofit organization dedicated to finding homes for pets in rural Oklahoma animal shelters through adoption events and fundraisers. We're focused on the Newcastle animal shelter since that's where we're based, but we also pull from other rural shelters when we can. We are a foster-based program, meaning that all of our dogs live in private foster homes NOT a facility. This gives them better socialization skills, which makes them a more well-adjusted pet. Also, the foster parent is able to learn about the pet’s personality, likes, and dislikes so that he can be better matched to the right forever home. We always need great foster families, so if you're interested in learning more on becoming one please visit our website to apply: www.shelterfriends.org
