My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This lovely and regal bun (hence the name Duchess) was found roaming by herself in a downtown park. A nice family found her and kindly took her in until a more permanent home could be found. Sadly, unwanted pet rabbits are often dumped in parks or simply let loose in the neighborhood, and this situation usually does not end well for the rabbits. Duchess has a chunk missing from one ear, a testimony to her time fending for herself and no doubt dodging predators. Fortunately she was brought to safety before any more serious harm could befall her. Duchess is thriving in foster care and is ready to find a permanent position as a beloved house rabbit.

Duchess is a well adjusted rabbit who enjoys the company of her humans. She would be a wonderful companion for someone who works from home. She is very interested in what her humans are doing and likes to watch their comings and goings, but she is not attention seeking or a troublemaker. She is an independent kind of girl, like a coworker that you can talk to, confide in and share your space with but who will not be disruptive. She brings beauty to your space, and expresses contentment and happiness by flopping and rolling on her back. One of her best qualities is that she keeps a tidy space and has great litter box habits - something we all want from our coworkers! If your home has an opening for a house rabbit and office mate, Duchess would love to meet with you to discuss her qualifications.

We adopt to indoor homes only! If you are interested in adopting a bunny from Orlando Rabbit Care and Adoptions or would like more information on rabbit care, please visit our website at: http://www.orlandorabbit.org. The first step to our adoption process is to complete an adoption application, which can be found here: https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/55856/generic . Then one of our volunteers will reach out to you via email to schedule a time to speak with you. If you don’t see the email in a day or two, please check your spam folder!

Our Adoption Fee/Donation for a single rabbit is $100, while a pair is $170. This helps to offset the cost of having the rabbits altered, microchipped and vaccinated, as well as any medical care that may have been required.

Additional adoption info

For those that want to bond a new rabbit with an existing rabbit, we conduct bonding events where the home rabbit can meet several rabbits to find a potential match. We work with the adopting family to help ensure that the rabbits bond. We take back the adoptive rabbit if there is not a match.

Our adoption agreement specifies that we will take any adopted rabbit back, should the home situation change in the future.

Go meet their pets

We are a foster-based rescue where our available animals are kept in private homes.

You can see our rabbits online, then make an appointment to meet the rabbit(s) you select.

From time-to-time, we conduct adoption events where you can meet multiple rabbits. Because of RHDV2, these events have been paused.

More about this rescue

We are a rescue and educational group dedicated to the health, care and enjoyment of house rabbits. We believe that pet rabbits are family members and should be housed indoors, should be fed a healthy diet, should be spayed or neutered, and should receive quality medical care. Our organization strives to provide bunny parents with information to help them care for their rabbit.
