Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Spicey is a handsome 3-year old male kitty who was surrendered by his family on February 9, 2023 to our HSOV Humane Officer and the Washington County Ohio Dog Warden. Spicey had shared his previous home with 100+ kitties who were also surrendered. These cats/kittens were obviously loved by their family who had somehow become overwhelmed with so many to take care of .. yet the cats were all socialized and were healthy with only minor issues.
Spicey has a brown tabby short smooth coat, white paws, a long ringed tail, and an adorable chubby face with green eyes which appear to be highlighted with white eyeliner, a brown velvet nose, and long white whiskers
This big boy has a shy, reserved disposition and is still a very frightened kitty after losing the home he had shared with so many of his friends. Our kind kennel techs are doing their best to make sure Spicey feel welcome and to know that he is unconditionally loved by them.
Spicey was given vaccinations and Pyrantel wormer on February 10, 2023. He was also combo tested that day and is negative for feline leukemia, FIV, and heartworm. Spicey was given booster vaccines on March 8, 2023.
Spicey was neutered on February 25, 2023 and was also given rabies vaccine. He weighed 10.8 lbs that day.
When the 100+ cats were temporarily housed at one of the county fairground buildings, Spicey had shared a cage with one of his best friends (Noodle), and they were usually snuggled up close together as if to offer one another comfort/security. Spicey and Noodle are both in our shelter (in adjacent cages these days).
All of the kitties from the home which Spicey and his friends came from seem to get along with other cats. To the best of our knowledge, they have not had any experience being around dogs. The cats were exclusive indoor-only kitties, so that would be a requirement for their new home as well.
Thankfully many of Spicey's former housemates have already found safe havens with fantastic rescue groups. Spicey and approximately 25 of his friends are currently in our shelter or foster care and are ready to find loving homes of their very own either through adoption or rescue.
Rescue groups may contact our HSOV Feline Rescue Coordinator via email (sharonpaul2@suddenlink.net). We can usually help with transportation.
