Bear does all of his potty business outside and is excellent in the crate! He is very food motivated and loves to play, both make training with him an unforgettable experience.
As with every dog there is a transition period to help build trust and the bond and hes the type of dog that once you get it he will do anything for a reward as simple as affection!
He knows sit, down, place, loose leash walking and coming when called. He already has a great training foundation and is getting continued socialization with his foster family. He is such a brave boy and conquers his fears every day that passes.
One thing that makes bear stands out is the way he gives you all and loves you unconditionally it makes you feel like the most special person in the world! He is a huge mush and just wants to be with his person all the time.
While I could go on all day about how wonderful Bear is, he does have things we continue to work on with him.
Due to Bears lack of exposure and him living his first year and a half of his life in a tiny space he struggles to always feel comfortable in outside world, crowded public places.
This means that Bear (like most of us!) can be nervous in new situations, with new people at first and children and looks for guidance on how to work through that. We prefer at this time he does not be placed in a home with children as he doesn’t quite understand why they move so fast and don’t want to make him feel uncomfortable.(We get it buddy).
We are teaching him that we can play and do something he loves like chew his bone to work him through it. He is making great progress check out our instagram to follow along —> @dash.the.black.lab
His foster family has noticed that with clarity in having rules inside the home and proper fulfillment Bear is thriving and continues to see the world in a different positive way!
It’s really been a team effort with Bear, as we have all fallen in love with him. He’s been trained and socialized by Leash & Lead K9 and continues to receive daily socialization and training in his foster home. With some patience and willingness Bear will make an amazing companion and go on all the adventures. He loves the great outdoors especially our daily walks on our 7 acres of woods. He great off leash but if he catches the sent of a Turkey or rabbit….he’s on it until you call. Take a chance on this beautiful boy today. To apply please visit STFFAR.org for a online application
