Note: The following information is from March 2023. She now weighs 46 pounds. Her adopter returned her due to allergies and provided no information about her other than she is now house trained. (tw 4/24/2024)

Daria is an excitable girl who really wants your attention. She is jumpy and vocal. She is curious and intense, active and confident. She weighs 40 pounds and enjoys leading while walking on a leash. She knows the sit command but we don't know if she is house trained. She transferred from another shelter and forgot to bring her resume. We haven't seen her interact with children so you can always bring yours to meet her. She has a desire to please people and enjoys being close. She likes running, sticks, and chasing balls but has no interest in picking one up. She has behaved well when interacting with other shelter dogs. Please offer sweet, friendly Daria the home and family she deserves. (tw 3/21/2023)

Pet Adoption Fees
CAP adoption fees include a variety of services - age-appropriate vaccinations, canine heartworm, and feline leukemia tests, spaying/neutering, deworming treatment, microchipping to name a few - the total value of which exceeds $450. These minimal adoption fees cover only part of each animal's stay at our shelter - please help us keep adoption fees low while maintaining the high quality of care for the animals in our charge by donating and/or volunteering.

A second dog or puppy, adopted within 30 days of the first adoption receives a $20 discount.

Any dog/puppy adopted at the same time as a cat/kitten will be adoptable at a $20 discount.

Citizens For Animal Protection, founded in 1972, is committed to sheltering, rescuing, and placing homeless animals in loving homes; advocating respect and compassion for all animal life; providing humane education to prevent animal cruelty; and raising awareness in the community of the needs of animals.

CAP is proud to announce that through life-saving adoption and transfer programs and a lot of hard work, we have maintained a placement rate of over 93% for all homeless pets surrendered to our shelter in 2021. In 2021, CAP provided care for 10,260 animals; this includes animals surrendered by the public and transferred in from animal control agencies and rescue groups, animals already in the shelter and foster care program, feral cats trapped/neutered/returned and animals receiving vaccinations and other treatments in our low-cost vaccination clinic, The Cornelius Clinic.
