My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Cher!

Hello, all you good-looking people, my name is Cher. I'm about 12 years old and weigh 15 pounds. My human dad passed away, and my human mama had to go to a place that I couldn't go with. If I could turn back time, I'd make it so my dad could live forever. But, now I'm with my foster mom, and I really warmed up to her quite quickly. When she goes away, she leaves me to roam in the house, and I just mainly sleep. But boy, I sure do have to go potty right away when she comes back. I always try to go potty outside, and I even tell my human counterpart when I need to go. I like dog friends, and I have a fur sister that I'd like to try to play with, but she can't see me, so she just wags her tail at me. I even like cats, but I haven't been around kids in my foster homes. I will tell you that I'm not a fan of loud noises, and I can get startled easily, so I wouldn't do well with small kiddos.

Foster mom says I'm a super sweet girl and will roll over so you can pet my belly, and once I get comfortable, I'll give you all the smiles in the world! When I'm outside, I'll need to be kept on a leash or in a nicely secured fenced yard. I've been known to look for weak spots in a fence or small areas where I can try to get out. I had most of my teeth pulled out because they were pretty junky, so I eat soft food and treats. I love my food, and other dog's food too, so I get fed separately. Sometimes my tongue will hang out of my mouth, and I like to think that it makes me even cuter! I have a slight heart murmur, but I don't have to take any medicine for it right now. My most favorite thing is being close to my humans and my dog friends, and smiling for my humans, especially when I'm so excited to see them! Do you have a spot on the couch next to you that I might fit in?

*Cher is being fostered in the Milwaukee area.

Disclaimer: It is VERY difficult even for a veterinarian to tell the exact age of a dog over two years old. From one vet to another, we can get different age estimates on the same dog and they can vary by several years. We are only making an educated guess based on a few factors like teeth, fur color, and overall body condition, but for dogs who have not been given adequate vet care and food, it can be even more difficult. Every dog is an individual, and we do our very best to age appropriately but make no guarantees as to the age of any dog in our program.
